Lake Tahoe SPLENDID IN FOUR SEASONS No place in the west can you find stately mountains and crystalline water coming together as majestically as at Lake Tahoe. Beautiful in any season, the freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada delights travelers and visitors all year. South Lake Tahoe offers winter sports, water sports, hiking, mountain biking and gambling. In winter, Lake Tahoe has some of the best skiing in the world. There are snow parks for sledding and snowmobiling throughout Tahoe. You can stroll in Heavenly Village which offers art galleries, restaurants, retail stores, and a recently opened eight-screen theater. Although known for its spectacular ski slopes, Tahoe is equally desirable in the warmer months. In spring, the highest mountains are still crowned with snow, offering a spectacular sight to hikers. Biking, golfing, and swimming are just a few of the activities available in Tahoe. Among the numerous trails to hike, there is one leading through an aspen meadow to nearby Fallen Leaf Lake, and there are safe bike trails for family fun as well. Adventure seekers will find trails that will satisfy their bold spirit. The lake is popular for water sports, beach activities and all sorts of boating events. Lake front restaurants offer scenic views and a diverse cuisine to please every palate. In the summer, you can cruise around the lake on the paddle wheeler, MS Dixie II, or soar in a hot-air balloon. Water sports enthusiasts can have fun jet skiing, para-sailing, or water skiing. Fishing spots in Lake Tahoe and Truckee River abound for both the sports fisherman and the amateur. Horseback riding is also on the “to do” list for Tahoe visitors. Stables such as Camp Richardson’s Corral offers guided rides for kids and adults. Aside from the winter sports and summer activities, Tahoe also offers gambling, entertainment and nightlife fun!
